In this torrent, this file is wrongly labeled as "Front.(EDITED).
It's actually "Back (EDITED)", of course:

My favorite is track 3 on disc 1.
Young Jimi blasting through I'm a Man...
    Fantastic...
Purple Haze also sounds great here...
I love compilations like this that lead us through different Jimi's phases...
I also can't remember hearing such a long version of track 7 on disc 1.... (check the end).

Re: Pan Am Flight 102 (Scorpio) - Flac+Art

I will definitely check this out. But a couple questions

    1. What does the title "Pan Am Flight 102 Scorpio" signify? At first I thought it might be a Doriella reference, but that was TWA Comet #3!

    2. What's up with the "Major Lance's Band" reference in "My Diary". Arthur Lee produced that session and wrote the song. Maybe I'm just forgetful, but I don't recall hearing any references to Major Lance in connection with the song.

Talking Re: Pan Am Flight 102 (Scorpio) - Flac+Art

    Scorpio is a bootleg label.
"Major Lance" was an R&B singer, members of whose band (bass player and drummer)
were involved in the session together with Hendrix, Brooks and Lee.
Songs were written by Hendrix-Brooks (My Diary) and Hendrix (U.T.).
The sessions was produced by Billy Revis, not Arthur Lee.
Bootlegs are notorious for their mistakes indeed,
    but not in this case.
    :-)
Pan Am Flight 103 was a regular flight connecting London and NY.
One was bombed down in 1988 by Libyan terrorists (over Scotland).
    102 - 103? Maybe that's the allusion.

Re: Pan Am Flight 102 (Scorpio) - Flac+Art

Well the authorship of "My Diary" is a bone of contention. On the single itself (which is on display in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame) the songwriter is listed as Arthur Lee. In fact that's the only place in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame where you'll find Arthur Lee's name! I know that Rosa Lee Brooks has claimed authorship, but the song's lyrics refer to "even our birthdays are on the same old day". It's a fact that Arthur Lee's birthday and his girlfriend at the time "Stephanie" of "Stephanie Knows Who" both shared birthdays of the 7th, which is the meaning behind the Love titles "7 & 7 Is" and "Number 14". Rosa Lee claims Jimi was her boyfriend, but she has not demonstrated that she shares a birthday with Jimi, so why would she write that line in the song?
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. I'm still waiting to see her proof. And like I said, Arthur's name is on the single as writer. That's what the history books will say until she proves otherwise.

Also I've never heard any claim before now that Hendrix wrote "Do the U.T.". What's the basis of that claim?

Thanks for your 2 recent uploads. This one and Alternate Masters are both great. Cool to hear this mix of Wild Thing at Monterey and the extended ending with crowd talking. Also interesting mix of Randall's Red House and always nice to hear the complete Hey Baby from Isle of Wight (unlike EH's inexplicably edited version on Blue Wild Angel). I also think Catfish Blues from Flamingo club sounds about the best I have ever heard Flamingo club version sound. Unfortunately a few of the songs on this sound too fast. Hey Joe from the Marque Club is the worst offender but we have great versions of that one elsewhere.

The "basis of that claim" is my memory which isn't very reliable I must admit. :-))
As far as I remember, "U.T." was an improvisation on the spot, so I concluded
that Jimi's authorship is understood. Wrong again?

It's got lyrics. I don't think Jimi wrote those.
